My name is Jeff Higginson and I am a graduate of Lincoln Christian College. I am married with two children. My wife Julie makes quilts for charity auctions. Our son Jason Wetherholt is a youth minister at Windsor Road Christian Church in Champaign, IL. He and his wife Elizabeth have two little girls. Our daughter Brienna plays basketball, is learning guitar, and can’t wait to get her driver’s license.
I grew up in North Pekin, IL. I attended the Creve Coeur Christian Church in Creve Coeur, IL. I rededicated my life at the age of 16 after the death of a friend in a car accident. My spiritual journey has been shaped in a major way by several close friends whose lives challenged me to live more like Jesus.
Over the past nearly 30 years I have ministered at different churches in the areas of youth and worship ministries. From 1980-1986, I served as the youth minister at the First Christian Church in Morris, IL. Then from 1986-1995 I was the youth minister at the Lowell Church of Christ in Lowell, IN. From there I began ministering in Lincoln, IL at Lincoln Christian Church from 1995-1997 as their youth minister. From 1997-2000, I served as the worship minister at the Washington Christian Church in Washington, IL
Since 1997 I have served as the Chaplain/Director of Volunteer Services. I coordinate the volunteer series of ICM. I oversee the “Service Retreat Weekends”. Also, I drag a band around for ICM. The Jeff Higginson Band has helped raise almost $25,000 over the last few years.
ICM is a perfect fit for me. It allows me to introduce believers to broken people. I have seen God use the relationships to change people on both ends.
My dreams for ICM would be to have more room to help more people as well as for us to have satellite sites in various cities.
Please pray that the staff would always have wisdom and soft hearts and that our residents would find the healing of Jesus to bring peace to their shattered lives.
Impact of ICM: The Mission has challenged me to be more thankful. It has also seen God’s truth in the lives of people. I have seen His power to change lives.
