Each year several individuals and groups come to Inner City Mission to serve and minister to the homeless. There are many different opportunities that are available for anyone who would like to volunteer.
Many come to the mission to help others, but find that their lives have been changed by volunteering. Here are some excerpts from past volunteers.
"Inner City Missions in Springfield, Illinois has probably changed and blessed my life more than they will ever know. They were my little reminder that my life isn't that bad." - Jaz
"It showed me how amazingly much I only think of myself. And I don’t know what kind of impact I had on them, the people there, or if I even had any, but I do know that they had an amazing impact on me." - Hannah
"It's not your typical homeless shelter. It's more like an apartment complex that takes in the homeless and helps rehabilitate them. I don't really like the word "homeless," though. It depersonifies people. It numbs us to the pain that these very real people have gone through." - Nathan
