Volunteering Is Needed
Minimize

While working full time in business, I wanted to find a way to serve the Lord in a tangible way. I heard about Inner City Mission through meeting one of the directors (Becky Payne). My volunteering began through translating from Spanish to English for a resident and eventually my husband and I began working with the youth. We taught classes once a week for youth between ages 7 and 17 which also enabled their parents to attend their own classes. There were tough days, but when it came time to leave, I always felt like staying longer. I always knew that volunteering at the mission was not wasted, but very much needed.

Though my teaching skills didn't always impress the youth, there were some great moments where I saw in their eyes that they understood Jesus at a new depth. These are some of the most rewarding moments in life. It is wonderful to be a part of God’s work in the hearts of the youth at Inner City Mission.
